When to get cheap flights to Mauritius? Best & worst months to travel in a nutshell
So, without any further ado, let’s look into the cheapest, average, and most expensive times of the year to visit this African country. When can you save the most on your trip?
September – the cheapest of them all
September is the cheapest month of the year to book flights to Mauritius, with the prices averaging £246. However, during this month, only about 8 hours of the day are sunny, and there’s a risk of heavy rains (though the monthly rainfall isn’t high!). The temperature is also only decent, with an average of 19℃ – it’s likely the reason the tickets are so cheap, since most tourists might try to avoid this time of the year.
May & June – the close favourites
May & June are the second and third best months to look for cheap flights to Mauritius, with tickets around £268. But, like September, they might not be the greatest time to visit the country.
While the temperatures are a bit higher in May and June than in September, during these two months, we no longer talk about the risk of heavy rains – we’re certain you’ll experience at least one. The average rainfall in this time of the year is three times higher than in September, so if you’re dreaming about sunbathing and enjoying your time on the beach, choose another month!
March – delightful weather, terrible prices
March is the most expensive month for booking flights to Mauritius, and it’s quite understandable. The temperature averages 24℃. There are some storms, but in general, the weather is sunny, yet not scorching hot. It’s simply the ideal time to enjoy the beaches and water activities. But is it worth the average £474 per ticket? Well, it depends on your priorities.
The other months – decent prices and decent weather
For the rest of the year, the prices are on the same level, ranging from £317 to £353. The weather varies across the months, but it is also pretty decent, with November probably being the best time of the year to visit the country due to its low rainfall (21 mm) and pleasant average temperature (24℃).
Finding the golden means
The cheapest flights to Mauritius are when the weather is least bearable in the country, so it’s really all about finding the golden means. If you’re somewhere in the middle, wanting an adventure that is both highly pleasurable and affordable, we recommend November. September will also be a great choice, though you won’t have as much fun on the beaches as it’s much more chilly.
March, in our opinion, is definitely too expensive… plus the country will be crowded then. May and June have high rainfall, so we’d also avoid them.
If you’re choosing between the remaining months, it’s really all about your priorities. How good does the weather have to be for you? How much money do you want to spend? Answer these questions and find the cheapest flights to Mauritius that will guarantee you an exciting trip based on your preferences. After all, traveling is all about having fun, isn’t it?
